Dexter and South Park renewed and Jack Dawson Dies Again

Hello everybody and welcome to Movie Monstrosity Blog, the movie blog which refreshes your daily need for movie news. As you might have noticed, the amount of posts have been reduced. I'm quite busy the last weeks and it will continue to be like that for the coming weeks. I hope you can forgive my lack of posts or attitude. Thank you for staying around.

Let's start with our well received weekly episode of FilmState!

Johnny Depp talks The Rum Diary

TotalFilm recently had an exclusive interview with Johnny Depp. He talks about his his role as Paul Kemp in The Rum Diary.

His old buddy Thompson had always planned for The Rum Diary to be made into a film, says Depp.

The Rum Diary opens on 30 November 2011 in US Theatres. You can expect a small column about the movie soon.

South Park renewed through season 20

Just as we thought that  Trey and Matt were preparing to end south park after 15 seasons of sheer mockery and entertainment, they shocked us with the following deal.

It was announced by Michele Ganeless, president, COMEDY CENTRAL. The deal for three additional seasons ensures the top-rated Emmy Award-winning series to keep running on screen through 2016 and a  milestone 20th season. Parker and Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode of "South Park," as they have since the premiere of the series in 1997.

You should watch the Behind The Scenes Documentary. It's truly amazing how they create an episode in such a small time.

Titanic 3D trailer is here ( spoiler: Leonardo Dicaprio dies )

I just ruined the movie for you. I'm sorry. Titanic 3D is released in UK cinemas on 4 April 2012.

Dexter renewed for two more seasons

After lengthy negotiations, Showtime has closed a new two-year deal with Dexter star Michael C. Hall. With him locked in, the pay cable network has renewed its flagship series for 2 more seasons, bringing the series’ run to 8 seasons. Each season will consist of 12 episodes, with production on Season 7 slated to begin next year in Los Angeles.

“Dexter‘s enormous success is a real tribute to the great achievements of its cast, producers, and the powerhouse performance of Michael C. Hall,” Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said. “The series is bigger than it’s ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape.” This past week, Dexter inched up again in the ratings for a fifth consecutive week, delivering 1.99 million viewers (2.61 million for the night), the show’s largest audience since the sixth season premiere. Season-to-date, the dark drama averages 5.12 million viewers per week on all platforms.

  8. Not surprised at South Park and Dexter renewals. But I thought the Bioshock movie was going to happen, then it died, and then came back? Not sure what to believe anymore.
